3 - 2 - 1!

My surgery countdown has begun! It's 3 days away! I have stocked the house with groceries,  and it now resembles your local supermarket.
Today I will change bed linens, do laundry and give the house a D&C (dusting and cleaning). I even bought a new vacuum yesterday.  Yes...the old one was not responding to all attempts to revive it and it was unplugged from the socket for the last time.  Sniffle.
My stomach flu seems to have run its course  no pun intended, and now is just an ugly memory.
I haven't yet tried to find where my ipod music went, and it is on my mind.  I planned on relying on that music to sooth my surgical nerves.  I may - or may not try to try to fix that, but not sure, it may be more aggravation that I want to take on.  I have to weigh the plus and minus on that project!
The hospital told me to bring a good pair of lace up shoes since they will get me out of bed to walk the day of surgery. Are they crazy?! Don't they realize I will just have had my knee replaced?   I do not like  "good" lace up shoes.  I'm a fancy/no lace type of shoe gal.  I guess I need to break out the New Balance shoes I wore (occasionally) while on vacation.
Day 2, tomorrow, I plan on doing nothing, but I will  pray.   My heart goes out to those on the sunken Italian cruise ship and to their family and friends.  What a tragedy, that could have been prevented.
Day 1 - I will be arriving at the hospital at 8am.  I will be hungry and thirsty, but hopefully I will feel a calm that only comes from God.  Yep - that's what I expect to feel!

~It is well with my soul

PS
i GOT ALL MY TUNES BACK ON MY IPOD!! WHOO HOOO!

Glad you are this close! I'll be praying for you in the next few days and on your surgery day too.
Getting up right away sounds awful but it's the best thing for you!
I'll be waiting for a great report!

I make every attempt to read your blog and keep a straight face. As I began reading this I suddenly felt like I was sitting across from you in a cabin in Lewiston Michigan with a fake fascinator on my head...when I got to the lace up shoes part and read..."They will get me out of bed to walk the day of surgery. Are they crazy?" LOL And it was at that point my straight face went out of the door. I love you and your sense of humor...

At this point I could bring up all those operations that go side ways. You know the ones. where the patient is put under and never wakes up or the ones where the patient is stitched back up but some how the doctor left in a clamp or gauze or some other foreign device or like my poor friend where they operated on the wrong knee...but I wouldn't do that.. that would just be mean. I am sure it will all be fine....unless of course something goes wrong. I will say a prayer but it might be a good idea to have Hal get up close to the doctor and get a whiff of his breath. I have heard that the drink early in the day can make a doctors eyes go blurry.
Best wishes your friend and mine Grayquill.

Praying for you sissy. You will be up and at it in no time!
Ugh, you know how I feel about lace up shoes...although I do sport them when shopping and walking. Older, does mean wiser eh?

I also have sweet crutches! I also have a boot. I don't know why you'd need the boot, but sister, if you need it, it's yours :)
